How we behave after a difficult moment is what determines our Future.
It is inevitable that at one time or another, we will face difficulties. Life is rarely a constant line we follow, but rather a series of ups and downs, twists and turns. These variations in our journey are cyclical and while we might be experiencing a moment of relative calm, it is only a matter of time until a sharp turn tests our balance. Should we live life in fear, knowing that these challenges will inevitably arrive? Absolutely Not! We should instead enjoy our life, while preparing for those moments.
I understand that sometimes the difficult times we face, prevent us from seeing any glimmer of hope in the distance. But like a sand storm in the desert, although it might completely obscure your the light, your vision still remains. Your vision is simply not clear and requires that you hold your ground and eventually endure the storm. Your vision will eventually become clear and your eyes again will rest on the promise of continued progress.
What can I do now?
Since stopping and surrendering your vision is not an option. After the storm passes, you must Start moving again.
-
Survey the damage.
-
Transform your situation.
-
Aim your sights.
-
Run towards your new goals.
-
Triumph over the difficulty.
The cardinal virtue of Fortitude is an ideal one to explore in the triumph over the tempest. The virtue of Fortitude gives a man the ability to show courage, resilience and determination when facing pain or difficulty. It does not make a man impervious to pain or suffering, but rather strengthens him to be able to continue, despite the pain or suffering. As humans we will face many things that will cause distress in our life and challenges that will strike us with fear and pain. But instead of running away from these challenges, we must face and resolve them with Fortitude.
The question now is: Where does one find fortitude?
Where does one find this fortitude to persist? The fortitude to raise up and press forward? On
episode of 5 of The Winding Stairs Masonic Podcast, titled "Where is your Courage", I discuss 5 places where you can look for courage or fortitude. If you have not listened to that episode yet, I invite you to do so today (
